Continuing the Acadia article about that unique, lost-and-found land, this story traces the travels and travails of my Doucet ancestors, starting in the 1600s with an extraordinary man, my x-times pépère (grandfather) Pierre and his wife Henriette nine generations ago, in times both bright and dark.

Survivors, Early Deaths & Mysteries

Orphaned at 7, a widow at 29, 6 children. Born in 19th century poverty, she moved from Glasgow to London as a young girl, fell in love and made a life there, fled a drunken second husband back to Scotland. Christina was a survivor, deserves to be remembered, and the times she lived in.
